Tim and Vitaly got the lab off to a flying start in 2017 – congrats for having their paper entitled “Unique contributions of an arginine side chain to ligand recognition in a glutamate-gated chloride channel” accpeted at the Journal of Biological Chemistry! A nice example of how unnatural amino acids can be used to introduce a titratable arginine analog into an ion channel – and uncovering a surprising side chain contribution to ligand recognition.
